What's Happening At AppleJo Farms?
June is AppleJo Farms ROUNDUP Month each year!
Every June, the entire AppleJo Farms Registered Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goat herd receives complete extensive maintenance care.
This year I was privileged to have my brother, Jeffrey Heywood and his lovely wife Debbie come all the way from the Nashville Tn area to assist with AppleJo Farms Roundup, June 19-20, 2023!
This included putting medical protocols in place and medical supplies to perform all procedures for AppleJo Farms entire Herd.
We performed for every member of AppleJo Farms Herd:
- Weight Recording
- Body Condition Exams
- CD & T Vaccinations
- Oral Baycox for Coccidiosis Treatment in kids
- Hoof Boss Hoof Trims
- Red Cell Nutrient Boost
- Selective De-Worming & Health Care as Needed
- Eprinex Topical for External Parasites Applied
- Vitamin B Complex Oral Supplementation
- Trimming/Shearing
- DNA Collection on Bucks
- Recording of all Data on individual Goat History Files.
It took 2 full days to complete all tasks with the 3 of us.
1 New Breeding took place during Roundup as well. Rosasharn Citrine and Black Oak Farm McGibbony!
June 30, 2023 update:
AppleJo Farms new barn is still under construction with the milk processing room and milk parlor getting a cement floor and walls insulated, etc. It looks promising to be completed in 2-3 weeks now. I had to hire a new crew to take over and redo the building of the barn. Expensive but we have a wonderful capable crew to complete it now!
5 months til these Dairy power house kids will be born at AppleJo Farms!
