Dollar for dollar, here's what the majority of people milking recommend to get more quantity and quality milk in the bucket:IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO FEED IT ALL (Black Oil Sunflower Seeds, Beet Shreds, Alfalfa Pellets)-‐Hold off on grain additives and find some alfalfa hay. Grass hays such as orchard grass, will boost your butterfat, whereas alfalfa will increase production. At least get enough alfalfa hay to do 1/2 alfalfa & 1/2 grass hay or at least 1/3 alfalfa hay at the very least.At the end, if you are not buying those feed additives, you will be able to afford the alfalfa hay and you'll be getting more milk which may be used and sold in many states.
